Bayern resume the Bundesliga campaign away to Union Berlin on Sunday, having come into the re-commencement with a four-point lead at the summit.
However, Borussia Dortmund won 4-0 over Schalke 04 on Saturday to close the gap at the top to one point, putting the pressure back on Bayern.
Flick insisted they couldn’t afford to be sluggish as they come to terms with a newlook league, played behind closed doors, with five substitutes permitted and following a completely unique break in the season, which has affected player conditioning.
“There are nine matchdays left, a power season,” Flick said.
“I hope we can quickly come to terms with these conditions and show our quality. It’s important the team pushes itself.
“If something doesn’t work, the team has to accept that. Of course, that can also come from the bench with a positive and motivating impact.”
Bayern will have top scorer Robert Lewandowski available after recovering from injury during break, but Spanish midfielder Javi Martinez faces a fitness test.
“He only did running today,” Flick said on Friday. “Otherwise everyone’s ready, bar those injured.”
Lewandowski, along with Ivan Perisic and Kingsley Coman have recently recovered from injuries, meaning they need to be used as subs.
Flick added he was happy with the temporary Bundesliga rule, permitting five substitutes per team per match.
“That’s great in weeks with a lot of games. I’m very pleased with that,” he said.
