Promising Schalke youngster Rabbi Matondo has been linked with a move to Manchester United, but he should turn them down.

The Welshman has been linked with the Red Devils after impressing during his brief Schalke time so far, but the youngster has got plenty of room for improvement before he makes another move.

Jadon Sancho’s move to Borussia Dortmund has encouraged a fleet of English footballers to move across the water and try their luck in Germany. Sancho couldn’t get a game for City, but almost instantly become one of the best players in the league and has a queue of suitors vying for his attention.

Rabbi Matondo was another who left the City Academy as he sought senior football, and while he hasn’t been able to have the same impact as his former teammate, things have been going well.

The Welsh international has now made 21 appearances for Schalke, scoring one goal, and has impressed with his pace and dribbling style.

Progress

Since September, Matondo has been a fixture of the first team squad - even if he has rarely been able to string together a run of games in the side. He tends to play twice before being dropped to the bench, which is something you might expect from a young lad trying to find your way.

But it doesn’t seem like the type of move Manchester United should be making. However, that’s not what the Manchester Evening News has reported, as they insist Old Trafford have got their watching eye on him.

Don’t

Being around the pressure and the atmosphere of the Red Devils would not be a good move for Matondo. While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has got a youthful team playing with a bit more freedom and vigour, the starlet won’t be coming in to play in the first team straight away and risks throwing away the clear progress he’s been making in Germany.
