The former Netherlands international striker moved to United from Premier League rivals Arsenal in the summer of 2012 for 24 million pounds.
It was a move that caused quite a sir at the time, as Van Persie was one of the best strikers in the Premier League and was on top of his game.
The Gunners and the Red Devils are fierce rivals, and the Dutchman won the league title in his very first season at Old Trafford.
Van Persie played a key role in United’s title success in 2012-13, scoring 26 goals and providing nine assists in 38 Premier League matches.
During the 2011-12 campaign, the Dutchman scored 30 goals and provided 10 assists in 38 league games for Arsenal.
The former Feyenoord striker has reflected on his decision to switch clubs, and has mentioned then United manager Sir Alex Ferguson as key to the move.
Metro quotes Van Persie as saying: “Ferguson made the difference for me in my choice to choose Manchester United. Because of the way he manages, the stories I heard, because of the players that were there.
“I really wanted to win and when I look at that team of Giggs, Carrick, Scholes, Vidic, Ferdinand they were all winners, they won it all. I was like I want to be part of that.
“I was in that period of my life where I felt like a winner but I wasnt so I had to win. I needed to go to a team that knew how to win.”
