The Daily Mail have reported that Atletico would be willing to let their summer arrival depart for the right price.
According to them, Kieran Trippier would be allowed to depart for 20 million pounds - but why would the former Tottenham Hotspur man want to swap Spain or Lancashire?
Strange
This is one of the odder stories to come out in the press in recent times. It’s not as if the England international has been struggling for minutes under Diego Simeone as he’s featured in all but three games when he was available.
The only period out of the side came because of a groin injury - while Simeone has installed Trippier as the first choice right-back for the Champions League too as he played 91 minutes during Atletico Madrid’s victory against Liverpool at Anfield.
Apparently his former side Burnley would be interested in taking the 29-year-old back to the Premier League. Never mind the difference in quality between the two sides, swapping Madrid for Burnley is hardly a fashionable lifestyle choice.
Mitigating Circumstances?
The only way you’d be able to get him back would be because he’s not enjoying the lifestyle in Spain - but it’s not effecting his on-field performance as he’s already made 26 appearances in all competitions.
But he isn’t. In an interview with the Guardian, Trippier confirmed he was enjoying his time in La Liga. The man is learning Spanish three times a week, he’s committed to the lifestyle and the league. He’s learning under Simeone.
Not Done
He’s a committed professional athlete with ambitions to get back into the England side. What better place could he be than competing for the league and playing in the Champions League while improving his game under one of the world’s great motivators.
Why would you swap all of that for Sean Dyche, Burnley and the Premier League?
