Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann may be right about Naby Keita, but that’s not automatically a bad thing.

The German was talking about the man who defied Jurgen Klopp’s predictions and spoke wisely about some of the inherent restrictions the midfielder will see placed on his game.

Difficult Introduction

Naby Keita was signed from RB Leipzig after he caught the eye of Europe with his dynamic, powerful performances from midfield but he’s yet to reach those heights for Liverpool. Some, including Didi Hamann, think he never will.

It’s been an odd adjustment to Anfield life for the Guinea international and there have definitely been some frustrating moments along the way. Injury and a lack of English language skills have hampered the 25-year-old, but maybe we should look at him differently in light of Hamann’s explanation.

Tactics

Anfield Watch reported that he told The Athletic that the way Klopp sets up Liverpool means he’ll never be able to have the impact he had at Leipzig, and he could be right. The Bundesliga side play their football in a vastly different way to the Reds, but that doesn’t mean Keita won’t become a good Premier League player or a valued member of the side.
