Leicester City star James Maddison has been the subject of more speculation over his future, despite football’s suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Mirror has reported that the English starlet is wanted at Old Trafford following another good season with the Foxes, for whom he has scored six goals and registered three assists in the Premier League.

But that wouldn’t be a wise move at this stage of his career.

Stay Still

In fact, James Maddison is better off staying with Leicester and Brendan Rodgers, who have a clear plan for the future and an exciting roadmap on how to get their. Why swap that for Manchester United - who are in perpetual chaos and lead by an inexperienced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and a hierarchy who favour the limelight over getting things done.

The way things are going, Leicester will be playing Champions League football next season and the playmaker will be in England manager Gareth Southgate’s thoughts for national selection. What more could a player want?

Fallen

Man Utd are no longer the glitzy name they used to be. That reputation has been sullied by years of post-Sir Alex Ferguson neglect and the failure to install the proper leadership systems at the top of the club.

Millions has been wasted on footballers not suited to the league, the manager or both. Things are starting to get better, but there’s always an internal unease about the place and that can do far more harm than good. If United can take Paul Pogba and turn him into a shadow of his former self, imagine what they could do with Maddison?

The former Norwich City star is at a settled club with lofty ambitions. If he keeps on performing well, the big names will come in for him - and it might be a better move than one to Old Trafford.
