Diego Maradona Junior, son of the Argentine legend, has confirmed that he wants to maintain his footballing career in Argentina and has added that he wants to play for the nation’s powerhouse River Plate.
Maradona Junior, who is 22 years of age, is the son of a relationship between Diego Armando Maradona and Italian Cristiana Sinagra, is in Argentina at the moment and has expressed his support for River by declaring that he shall attend River’s Copa Sudamericana second leg clash with Defensor Sporting> at El Monumental.
Maradona Junior has also remarked that he would like to play for River Plate very soon and admitted that he supports the club. He said:
“I’m a River Plate fan and I would like to play for this club before Boca, where my father shined. On the weekend I received some offers from other Argentine clubs, so I don’t discard the possibility of staying in this country. I know I will be far away from my house in Italy, but I am well prepared for this.
“I feel a great admiration for Pablo Aimar and Javier Saviola, who came through the River Plate system, and it would be a dream come true to play there.”
Incidentally River Plate are the archrivals of Argentina’s other big club Boca Juniors which Maradona Senior supports with his life. Like father, unlike son.
