Montreal Impact defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama has said that he would love to return to Celtic in the future.

The Kenya international was on the books of Celtic from 2011 until 2013 when he moved to Southampton in the Premier League.

During his time at the Hoops, Wanyama won the Scottish league title twice and the Scottish Cup once.

The 28-year-old switched to Impact in Major League Soccer in March 2020 after leaving North London outfit Tottenham Hotspur.

Wanyama has said that he has unfinished business at Celtic, and has stated that he wants to play for the Glasgow giants before he retires from professional club football.

Wanyama told The Athletic: “They need to let you grow and achieve what you want. But I want to play for Celtic again before I finish. I have unfinished business there. I love that club.”

Title Race in Scotland

Football in Scotland is suspended at the moment due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the season will not resume until July at the earliest.

Celtic have won the league title in Scotland for the past eight seasons and are aiming to make it nine in a row.

The Bhoys are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 80 points from 30 matches, as many as 13 points clear of second-placed and bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers, who have played 29 games.
