Odion Ighalo has suggested that he could stay at Manchester United beyond the summer transfer window.

The former Watford striker joined Premier League giants United on loan from Chinese Super League club Shanghai Greenland Shenhua in the January transfer window.

The 30-year-old striker is scheduled to stay on loan at Old Trafford until the end of the season.

The Nigerian striker is out of contact at Shenhua in the summer of 2021, and he has suggested that he could decide to sign a permanent contract with United in the summer of 2020.

Ighalo has said that he has not made a decision yet on his future, but the striker is open to a long-term stay at the Red Devils.

Ighalo told ELEGBETE TV: “I don’t just sit down and take decisions, and I don’t get carried away with whatever people say. I came to Manchester United to play for a pay cut because I wanted to.

“So anything could happen, but I want the season to finish and my loan to finish. Then I will see everything I have.

“You don’t just rush and do things. ‘I’m going here, I’m going here’. I have to sit down and finish the season well, sit down with my agent, see what’s on the ground: A, B, C, D, is on the ground. Okay we have to pick.”

Stats

Ighalo has made four substitute appearances in the Premier League for United so far this season.

The striker has also scored two goals in one FA Cup tie, and has scored two goals and provided one assist in three Europa League games for the Red Devils.

United are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 45 points from 29 matches, three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
