Gerrard, who was appointed the Rangers manager in the summer of 2018, was on the books of Liverpool from 1989 until 2015 when he moved to Los Angeles Galaxy in Major League Soccer.

During his time at the Reds, the former England international midfielder won the FA Cup twice, the League Cup thrice, the Champions League in 2005 and the UEFA Cup in 2001.

Gerrard has said that Tottenham made an approach for him as a teenager after he impressed against the North London club’s youth team.

Lord Sugar was the chairman of Spurs at the moment, and he has confirmed on Twitter that there was indeed an approach from Tottenham.
