Sotirio has played 31 minutes in the last three games but managed to score a goal against the Central Coast Mariners after being introduced in the 79th minute.
After starting the first 11 fixtures, the Australian has seen his performances limited through the surge of fitness Gary Hooper has shown. But rather than be put out by this, the former Western Sydney Wanderers man is enjoying it.
All Good
He said: “It’s all good, it’s all healthy competition.”
Hooper and David Ball have been in fine form recently and they are two experienced professionals. They’re the type of forward who Sotirio would benefit playing alongside - which he is relishing.
Sotirio added: “Hoops and Bally are great, great players and I’m still learning off them. Whether I start or come off the bench I’m always going to try my best and as I did, try to score off the bench.”
Hooper scored against Central Coast as the Phoenix helped themselves to a 3-1 victory to make it three wins in a row, scoring six goals and only conceding one.
Stay Focused
Head coach Ufuk Talay has kept the Nix’s eyes on the prize and wants the team to focus on finishing sixth in the league and securing a play off finals position.
But this outfit are third in the league and are a win ahead of Perth Glory in fourth.
Wellington play Melbourne Victory next, who are ninth in the table - and the pressure will be on the Nix to keep this good run going as they head towards crunch time.
Sotirio may or may not get his start against the Victory but one thing is for sure: the 23-year-old will be waiting, learning and ready to make an impact whenever Talay hands him a chance.
