City got the better of Premier League rivals Aston Villa 2-1 at Wembley Stadium in London in the final of the EFL Cup on Sunday evening.
Comfortable Win
Sergio Aguero put Pep Guardiola’s side in the lead after just 20 minutes, and Rodri headed home from a corner to double the advantage for the defending Premier League champions.
However, Villa earned themselves a lifeline in the 41st minute when Mbwana Samatta headed home from Anwar El Ghazi’s cross.
Although Dean Smith’s side tried hard in the second half, they could not find an equaliser, as City won the EFL Cup for the third season in a row and for the fourth time in five years.
Delighted
Former City striker Dickov was following the match, and he has taken to Twitter to revel in the win for the Citizens.
Dickov has also praised City midfielder Phil Foden for his performance in the Citizens’ triumph.
Stats
The 19-year-old midfielder took five shots of which none was on target, played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 90.2%, won two headers, took 70 touches, attempted three dribbles, made two tackles, one interception and one clearance, and put in two crosses.
