Chelsea top scorer Tammy Abraham has been ruled out of Saturday night’s English Premier League trip to Bournemouth due to an ankle injury

Abraham, who has scored 13 Premier League goals this term, was a 61st minute substitute in the midweek 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.

He experienced ankle pain following the match, having originally sustained the injury last month against Arsenal, sitting out training late in the week and has been ruled out against the Cherries by boss Frank Lampard.

“It’s an ankle injury around the ligament,” Lampard said.

“He’s got inflammation and the inflammation is causing pain so were looking at ways to get rid of that pain.

“It’s been a month and were still talking about it so its been a frustrating one because we’ve seen him come back and go away.

“Sometimes things that are pain threshold are like that but if he’s not comfortable then he probably has to come out for a few days at least to see where it’s going.”

Elsewhere, Brighton & Hove Albion host Crystal Palace in the early kick-off on Saturday night.

Newcastle hosts Burnley and relegation-threatened West Ham United entertain Southampton.

In the late kick-off, leaders Liverpool travel to 19th-placed Watford, with the Reds without Jordan Henderson (hamstring), James Milner (muscle) and Xherdan Shaqiri (calf).

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp said: “All coming closer, much closer. Hendo is running, Millie is running and even more. It was not enough for this game now.”
