Sadio Mane scored the only goal of the match in the 42nd minute when he slotted the ball home past Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio after it bounced off Adam Lallana’s shoulder in the box.
Wijnaldum started the game and played for 86 minutes, and the 29-year-old Netherlands international midfielder has revelled in the success on Twitter.

Visitors Wolves had 37% of the possession, took 10 shots of which two were on target, and earned six corners.
The result means that Jurgen Klopp’s team are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment with 55 points from 19 matches, as many as 13 points clear of Leicester City, who are currently second in the standings and have played 20 games.
Liverpool will return to action on January 2 when they take on Sheffield United at Anfield in the Premier League.
