Takumi Minamino has taken to Twitter to express his delight at agreeing to join Liverpool from RB Salzburg.

As announced on Liverpool’s official website, the Premier League club have reached an agreement with Austrian outfit Salzburg to secure the services of Minamino in the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, has agreed personal terms with the Reds and has passed a medical on Merseyside.

The Japan international will officially join Liverpool on January 1 by a transfer fee reported by The Daily Star to be worth 7.25 million.

Minamino has taken to Twitter to express his delight at his impending move to Liverpool.

Stats

Minamino has made 11 starts and three substitute appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga for Salzburg this season, scoring five goals in the process.

The former Cerezo Osaka star has scored two goals and provided three assists in six Champions League games this campaign.

Successful season

Liverpool won the Champions League last season and also finished just a point behind champions Manchester City in second place in the Premier League title race.

The Reds have booked their place in the knockout rounds of the Champions League this campaign, and are also 10 points clear of second-placed Leicester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will face Brazilian club Flamengo in the final of the Club World Cup on Saturday.
