Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that the club will know more about the injury suffered by Fabinho on Thursday.

Fabinho was substituted early on in their Champions League game against Napoli at Anfield on Wednesday evening.

It followed an awkward collision for the 26-year-old Brazil international defensive midfielder with an opponent.

Liverpool manager Klopp has admitted that the injury could be serious, and has said that more will be known on Thursday.

Liverpools official website quotes Klopp as saying: “Of course it’s still early and we all hope it’s not too serious but it’s pretty painful in an area where you don’t want to have pain, around the ankle and shin, so we have to see.

The German coach added: “He is a really hard one and couldn’t continue. I don’t want to say what I expect, because I hope in the moment it’s not that serious. But we’ll know more maybe tomorrow, maybe the day after tomorrow. We’ll see.”

Blow For Liverpool

Fabinho has established himself as an important player for Liverpool, and it will be a blow for the Reds if the Brazilian is sidelined with injury for a period of time.

The former AS Monaco star has made 11 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for the Reds so far this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process.

The Brazilian has also made five appearances in the Champions League for the Merseyside outfit so far this campaign, providing one assist in the process.

Going Strong

Liverpool are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment with 37 points from 13 matches, as many as eight points clear of second-placed Leicester City.

The Reds are currently at the top of Champions League Group E with 10 points from five matches, a point clear of second-placed Napoli.
