West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass has announced his retirement from international football with Scotland

Snodgrass made the announcement on his Instagram page, stating that he is stepping aside to allow the young players to take the stage.

The 32-year-old former Leeds United and Norwich City winger has also thanked the Scotland fans for their support to him throughout his time for the national team.

Scotland Career

Snodgrass made his international duty for Scotland back in 2011 and played 28 times for his country before deciding to retire, scoring seven goals in the process.

The former Hull City winger represented Scotland at the Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 levels.

The winger played his first senior Scotland game against Northern Ireland in Dublin on February 9, 2011.

Focus On West Ham United

Snodgrass did his best for Scotland, and the 32-year-old will now be focusing fully on his club football career.

The Scotsman is an important player for West Ham, and the London club will hope to see his best now that he has no Scotland commitment.

The winger has played 144 minutes in the Premier League for West Ham so far this season, and made 25 starts and eight substitute appearances in the league for the Hammers during the 2018-19 campaign, scoring two goals and providing five assists in the process.

West Ham will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Everton away from home at Goodison Park in the Premier League.
