Ian Taylor has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Aston Villa central defender Tyrone Mings making his debut for England on Monday evening

Mings was in action for England in their Euro 2020 Group A qualifier against Bulgaria away from home in Sofia.

The 26-year-old central defender started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as Gareth Southgate’s side won 6-0.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, and Manchester City attacking midfielder Raheem Sterling and scored a goal each for the visiting team, while Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley found the target twice.

Impressed

Villa legend Taylor was following the match, and he was impressed with the display produced by Mings on his first competitive appearance for England, while also suggesting on Twitter that the transfer fee the Villans paid for him was a bargain.

Stats

Mings spent the second half of last season on loan at Villa from Bournemouth, and Dean Smith’s side paid the Cherries an initial transfer fee of £20 million in order to secure the services of the 26-year-old central defender in the summer transfer window.

Against Bulgaria on Monday evening, Mings had a pass accuracy of 95.5%, won one header, took 98 touches, attempted two dribbles, and made one tackle, one interception and one clearance.

The defender has made eight appearances in the Premier League for Villa so far this season and played 18 matches in the Championship for the Villans during the second half of last season.
