Atalanta :
Arrivals :
The Bergamaschi spent a total of of just under 40 M Euros, with the main new recruits being center forward Luis Muriel and midfielder Ruslan Malinkovski commanding the bulk at a combined 28 M Euros. Colombian Muriel joins compatriot Duvan Zapata and the likes of captain Papu Gomez, Josep Ilicic & Musa Barrow in a formidable attack, as the club participates in the UEFA Champions League for the first time.
Departures : Three players that were loaned out last season by the Lombardian club have had their transfers confirmed, in the form of Franck Kessie, Bryan Cristante and Andrea Petagna. The trio brought in a combined 57 M Euros to the club as part of a 60 M Euros income. Losing Gianluca Mancini on a loan deal with an obligation to buy at Roma was the other main departure.
Bologna :
Arrivals : The Rossoblu have spent around 15 M Euros so far this summer window, but that has been evenly spread out, between confirmations of players already on loan and new recruits. Attacking midfielders Riccardo Orsolini, Roberto Soriano and Nicola Sansone’s transfers came in, although the first name was agreed upon with Juventus before the end of last season.The other main acquisitions in Emilia-Romagna are Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, Wingers Lassi Lappalaien & Andreas Olsen, midfielder Jerdy Schouten and defenders Stefano Denswil & Mattia Bani.
Departures : Fortunately for the seven time Scudetto winners, they have so far, not lost any real “big names”, although center back Sebastien De Maio, who was a pivotal cog in their successful Serie A survival fight, has returned to Udinese.
Brescia :
Arrivals: La Leonessa has returned to the top flight of Italian football for the first time in eight years, and such has to be pragmatic with their spending. So far their biggest purchase, is Finnish goalkeeper Jesse Joronen at the cost of 5 M Euros. Only two players have cost more than a million euros, and they are French striker Florian Aye and center back Jhon Chancellor.
Departures : No significant players have left the Stadio Mario Rigomonti, with the club so far able to hang on to play-making starlet Sandro Tonali, however, defender Simone Romagnoli, who was key to the club topping the Serie B standings, has since returned to Empoli. The 29-year old was on loan from the Tuscan club.
Cagliari :
Arrivals : The Isolani have not been too active in the summer, with their most significant arrival, being central midfielder Marko Rog. The Croatian came in on a loan from Napoli at the cost of 2 M Euros. The other acquisition that has so far grabbed the headlines, is Uruguayan Christian Oliva from Nacional, while wing-backs, Federico Mattielo & Fabrizio Cacciatore have been signed from Atalanta & Chievo respectively.
Departure : The major loss for the Sardegna side is that of captain and midfield linchpin Nicolo Barella. The Italy international left for pastures new at Inter, on an initial loan of around 12 M Euros, with an obligation to buy. The experienced duo of Dario Srna & Simone Padoin will also not be with the team next year, as the former has retired, while the latter was released by the club.
Fiorentina :
Arrivals :La Viola have recently been acquired by American business-man Rocco Commisso, however, he has stated that he will not spend outlandishly. It has proven as such, as the club have spent just a shade under 4 M Euros, however, the players acquired for the sum should all help the Tuscans. Wing-backs Pol Lirola & Aleksa Terzic have been brought in to address the wide areas. However, without doubt the biggest name arrival is that of former Milan man Kevin Prince-Boetang. The Ghanian has done the rounds in Europe, with stops in England, Spain and Germany and landing in the passionate football city of Florence, will sure garner lots of media attention.
Departures :The two time Serie A champions have lost some significant pieces of last year’s team, in a further indication of a new direction of the club, under the new ownership. Goalkeeper Alban Lafont has gone on loan to Nantes, midfielder Jordan Veretout has left to join Roma on a loan with an option to buy, while striker Luis Muriel’s loan is up. He had a short, but impact-full stint at the Artemio Franchi, and as mentioned earlier in this article, has since moved on a permanent transfer to Atalanta.
