City crushed Watford 6-0 in Saturday’s FA Cup final to complete the treble after last weekend’s Premier League triumph and their earlier League Cup success.
Kompany, who will now exit City to be player-manager at Belgian giants Anderlecht, was full of praise for Guardiola, who has led the Sky Blues to back-to-back league titles.
“It wasn’t as easy as the score makes it look but what a season and what a tremendous club,” Kompany said.
“It started with the manager. He sets the standard at the start of the season.
“It’s the best team in the world for me.
“To set such a high standard for so long, not just for one year but two years running now (is amazing).”
The result means City are the first English top-flight side to register 50 wins in all competitions in a single season.
Guardiola, who took over at Etihad Stadium in 2016, acknowledged it had been a fantastic year for the club.
“It was an incredible final for us and we have finished an incredible year,” the Spaniard said.
“To all the people at the club, a big congratulations, especially the players because they are the reason why we have won these titles.”
