It would be an understatement to say that Freddy Adu’s life story is interesting. Born in Ghana, Freddy moved to the USA while still a child, when his mom won the Green Card Lottery.
His football talent was spotted by scouts, so his professional career while he was still a teenager. In fact, he made a debut in the national team at the age of 16, setting a new record.
Everyone, including people from Football Manager, had expected Freddy to grow to become a new Pele. However, none of the enthusiastic predictions came to life. In fact, after playing in some low-level clubs, Freddy Adu ended up selling vacuum cleaners at 27.
Still, no one can say it wasn’t fun while it lasted. During his career, Adu played for a number of clubs, including Finnish club KuFu-98, Turkish Çaykur Rizespor, and Serbian Jagodina. Never heard of those? Thought so…
