Bournemouth have earned six precious points from their last two Premier League outings which as eased any lingering relegation fears but the same is true of their next top flight opponents and the Cherries are opposed on Saturday.
Eddie Howe deserves plenty of credit for ensuring the South Coast newcomers will almost certainly preserve their status come the end of term and we might just see Bournemouth finish the season with a flourish now that the pressure has been lifted.
Howe will have been a relieved man to see his side break through the 30-point barrier in style when his players got the better of near neighbours Southampton in their last home fixture and that was supplemented by a significant win at Newcastle.
Bournemouth made the long trip having recorded a vital 3-1 win over the beleaguered Magpies, which put an 11-point gap between themselves and their hosts last Saturday, and they have performed well on the road.
Well over half of Bournemouth’s tally during the campaign has come on their travels but they concede plenty of goals wherever they plan and I am expecting an entertaining clash against the Swans.
Like Bournemouth, Swansea were nervously looking over their shoulder until a brace of wins over Norwich and Arsenal in their last two outings and I think the Welsh club will now survive with something to spare.
The win at The Emirates came after Swansea had also made Tottenham pull out all the stops on their last fixture away from the Liberty Stadium and prior to that they had picked up four points from matches at Everton and Crystal Palace.
In fact, even when Swansea were struggling they were rarely outplayed on the road and just once in the last calendar year have they been beaten by more than a single goal in a Premier League away match.
That came at Southampton in September but Swansea have momentum now and a point would probably sure both teams anyhow.
Having won only four of 14 matches in front of their own fans Bournemouth are taken on at just even money and I’m looking forward to what should be a decent contest between two in-form sides.
