Roma have been hunting for the prized signature of Baptista since the end of last season and have eventually been awarded for their endeavour. After Roma’s first bid for the “Beast” was rejected, officials of the Roman club flew from the Eternal City to the Madrid capital at the weekend.

A deal between the two sides has finally been reached. Roma shall pay Real Madrid 12 million euros for the player. Baptista has already flown to Rome and shall sign a four year deal worth 2.5 million euro per season.

AS Roma are looking to gun both for the scudetto and the UEFA Champions League in 2008-2009 and that is why they were so intent on signing Baptista whom Real Madrid did not want for the coming season.
