On Saturday, December 12, Manchester City host Swansea City in an English Premier League fixture. The game will be played at the Etihad Stadium in the city of Manchester and will kick off at 15:00 BST.
The hosts are currently 3rd on the league table with 28 points from 15 games, while the visitors are in 15th place, with 14 points from 15 games.
A win for the favourites can see them go top of the league, while a defeat can see them drop to 5th place. A win for the underdogs can see them go up one place into 14th, while a defeat could send them spiralling to 19th.
The Citizens, managed by Manuel Pellegrini are in good form, with three wins and two defeats in their last five games. These wins were include a league win over Southampton (3-1 on November 28), a league cup win against Hull City (4-1 on December 1), and a Champions League victory against Borrusia Moechengladbach (4-2 on December 8).
The 2014 champions however suffered defeats at the hands of Juventus in the Champions League (1-0 on November 25), and Stoke City in the league (2-0 on December 5).
The Swans, who recently sacked manager Garry Monk, are in dismal form, with one draw and four defeats in their last five games. This single draw was against AFC Bournemouth in the league (2-2 on November 21).
The Welsh team have suffered recent defeats against Arsenal (0-3 on October 31), Norwich City (1-0 on November 7), Liverpool (1-0 on November 29), and Leicester City (0-3 on December 5).
Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling was in red hot form in their recent Champions League game, and his manager will be hoping he brings his continental form to the premier league for this match. The slump in form of the Swans has coincided with Bafetimbi Gomis’ slump in form, and the caretaker manager will be hoping his centre forward finds the back of the net in this encounter.
Manchester City have been blowing hot and cold of late, winning some games in impressive fashion, but also losing to some less than fancied opponents. Swansea City however is in serious trouble and I don’t see that abating in this game. Victory to the Citizens by a convincing margin.
