Schalke 04 welcome the defending champions Bayern Munich to the ‘Veltins-Arena’ in Gelsenkirchen in game week 13 of season 2015-16 in the German Bundesliga. The game kicks off at 18:30 CEST on Saturday, November 21, 2015 and will be a hard fought game.
Schalke are currently in the fifth place in the Bundesliga with 20 points from their 12 matches while the visitors Bayern Munich occupy top spot in the Bundesliga table with 31 points from their 12 matches.
Schalke have struggled in the last two months having registered just one win in five matches. Three defeats and a draw have resulted in a downward slide which they have to curtail sooner rather than later and Bayern’s visit is as huge a challenge there is.
Their last five games have been defeats to Dortmund, Mönchengladbach and Köln, a draw against FC Ingolstadt and a lone win over Hertha BSC.
Bayern Munich on the other hand are on a roll and last game week’s 4-0 win over Stuttgart reiterates their supreme game in the league. Their other recent results have been wins over Köln, Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund while the goalless draw against Eintracht Frankfurt was a mere blip in the well-oiled machine.
The usual suspects Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Müller will again look to be on the scoring sheet come Saturday.
Add to it the explosive Douglas Costa and now Arjen Robben coming off the other flank, Schalke could well be looking at two or three goals by the half. The home side meanwhile will be looking for an overall sound display from the likes of Sané, Di Santo, Meyer and Huntelaar if they are to pose a threat on the counter.
Bayern Munich are the favourites despite the away fixture but Schalke will be a tough nut to crack if they step it up and play tight at the back.
