Sweden make the short trip across the border to play Denmark holding a slender one-goal advantage from the first leg of their play-off and they were clearly the better side when the pair met in Stockholm on Friday night.

Strikes from Emil Forsberg and Zlatan Ibrahimovic either side of half-time had put the Swedes very much in the driving seat and it is the latter they will look to for inspiration and leadership at Parken.

However, Nicolai Jorgensen’s away goal with ten minutes left has given Denmark more than enough reason to believe they can overturn the narrowest of deficits and the momentum just might be with the upcoming hosts.

Jorgensen’s crucial effort was the first time Denmark had found the back of the net in nearly four competitive matches, having finished the group stage of qualifying with a whimper behind Portugal and Albania, who advanced automatically, and Sweden will be confident of restricting their opponent’s attacking threat.

In contrast, the Swedes have the game’s star man in their ranks and Zlatan is very much a performer for the big occasion.

Sweden must be fancied to score at least once in the Danish capital and it should be noted that they usually do very well defensively on their travels.

You have to go back to last March to find the last time Erik Hamren’s men conceded more than once away from home, a run stretching eight matches, and if that trend continues then I fully expect the hosts of Euro 92 to be on their way to another major tournament.
