Belgium v Israel Euro 2016 Qualifiers preview & live

Belgium host Israel in their last home game in Group D of the European Championship qualifications at the Stade Roi Baudouin in Brussels, Belgium.

Belgium host Israel in their last home game in Group D of the European Championship qualifications at the Stade Roi Baudouin in Brussels, Belgium. The game kicks off at 20:45 CEST on Tuesday, October 13, 2015.

Belgium tops the Group C standings with 20 points from their nine matches played and are two points ahead of Wales who have also qualified for the main event. Israel on the other hand is in the fourth place with 13 points from their nine matches and they are one point behind Bosnia-Herzegovina who hold the third position for the play-offs.

Belgium have been impressive in their qualifications campaign and look set to challenge for the European Championships next year. Their last five games have resulted in four wins against Andorra, Cyprus, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Israel while the lone defeat they suffered was at the hands of Wales away from home.

Israel suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of Cyprus last game week, a defeat which now leaves them up against it to qualify from the group.

This means that they must now get a better result against Belgium in Brussels than Bosnia can manage away to Cyprus. Israel have had a poor run of games that has seen them pick up just four points from their last six qualifiers.

Defeats to Bosnia-Herzegovina and Belgium, a draw away to Wales and a win against Andorra have been their other results.

Belgium will look to continue on the good run and will hope for more goals from the likes of Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, Laurent Depoitre and the rest. The visitors will know that they also need goals from the likes of Dabbur, Zahavi, Kayal and Bitton if they have to stake claims for qualification for the Euro 2016.

Belgium are the favourites to win the match but the complacency of having qualified as well as Israel’s desperation for a result should make it a good game for the neutrals.
