Germany v Georgia live & preview Euro 2016 Qualifiers

Germany host Georgia in Group D of the European Championship qualifications at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig, Germany.

Germany host Georgia in Group D of the European Championship qualifications at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig, Germany. The game kicks off at 20:45 CEST on Sunday, October 11, 2015.

Germany is currently on top of the Group C standings with 19 points from nine matches while their opponents for the game Georgia are out of contention, currently holding the fifth place in the group with nine points from their nine games so far.

Germany need just one point to seal their qualification to Euro 2016 but a shock defeat at the hands of Republic of Ireland on Thursday meant that they have to wait that much longer to confirm qualifications. Crucial victories against Scotland and Poland prior to this was instrumental in the World Champions going top of the group standings and one would think that they should seal their spot this Sunday against Georgia.

The visitors Georgia were buoyed by their 4-0 win against Gibralter this Thursday but coming up against the Germans is a completely different ball game. They’ve had one other win against Scotland and three defeats against Poland, Germany (at home) and the Republic of Ireland in their recent run of fixtures.

Mario Gotze and Bastian Schweinsteiger are set to miss out through injuries but coach Joachim Low has enough firepower in Tony Kroos, Marco Reus, Thomas Muller and Mesut Ozil to win the game handsomely. Georgia meanwhile will pin their hopes on the likes of Kvekveskiri, Qazaishvili, Okriashvili and Vatsadze to put in a sound performance and get something going for the visitors.

Germany are odds on favourites for the game especially after their midweek debacle. Georgia will hope to put up a stern resistance and keep the scoreline down as even gaining a point against the mighty Germans will be extremely difficult.
