Spain host Luxembourg in Group C of the European Championship qualifications at Estadio Nuevo Municipal Las Gaunas in Logroño, Spain.

Spain host Luxembourg in Group C of the European Championship qualifications at Estadio Nuevo Municipal Las Gaunas in Logroño, Spain. The game kicks off at 20:45 CEST on Friday, October 9, 2015.

Spain is currently on top of the Group C standings with 21 points from eight games closely followed by Slovakia who are two points behind. Luxembourg is in the fifth position in the group with just four points from their eight matches.

Spain have ramped up their form in the recent matches going unbeaten in six games now and a win this weekend will seal their qualification to the Euro 2016.

The recent results include wins over Slovakia, Ukraine and Belarus at home as well as victories against FYR Macedonia, Belarus and Luxembourg away from home. Incidentally the last time the two teams met, Spain won the game 4-0.

The visitors on the other hand have had a poor qualification campaign with just one win in their eight games.

The recent results include the one win that came against FYR Macedonia but defeats to Belarus, Ukraine and Slovakia all away from home meant they stay rooted at the foot of the table.

Diego Costa is suspended for the fixture and manager Del Bosque is not very pleased over the disciplinary issues concerning the Chelsea forward.

Sergio Ramos, Andres Iniesta and Dani Carvajal remain sidelined with injuries as the manager will hope for the goods from the likes of Silva, Mata, Cazorla and Alcacer.

Luxembourg will pin their hopes on the likes of Deville, Gerson, Payal and Joachim to deliver a good performance and keep the scoreline down.

Spain go in as the easy favorites to win the match and it remains to be seen by what margin they do so. Luxembourg will hope to not take a beating by putting in a good defensive display.
