Ed Jones is an Emirati-British car racing driver, who is known for competing in the IndyCar Series. Because he is half-blooded Emirati and British, he is eligible to compete and represent under both licenses. Jones was highly noted for winning the 1016 Indy Lights series for Carlin Motorsport. He also joined the 2017 Indianapolis 500.
Jones began his karting career when he was just 9 years old. When he joined the UAE karting competition, he was able to achieve the championship title. Then he continued racing in the Rotax Max and KF3. In 2011, Jones had his debut for the 2011 InterSteps championship for Fortec Motorsport, and he ended finishing the series in fourth place in the only win.

He continued racing for Fortec by competing in the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC and the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. In 2012, he moved to be a full-time series driver for the European F3 Open Championship for Team West-Tec. Even if he missed the opening round, still he managed to win 6 times and exceeded Sandy Stuvik. He also competed raced for Carlin Motorsport in the FIA European F3 Championship.
In 2015, Jones returned with Carlin Motorsport to compete in the Indy Lights series. Because of his two wins at Indianapolis and Barber, Jones had achieved the championship title, which became a controversial issue. During the last lap, Jones assisted his teammate Felix Serralles. However, Serralles paved way for Jones, making him the series champion by a slim point difference.
After winning the Indy Lights title, he joined the Indy 500, which earned him the 2017 Rookie of the Year. In the following year, Jones confirmed that he will be competing for the 2019 Indianapolis 500 and he will be in partnership with Ed Carpenter Racing and Scuderia Corsa. In 2019, Jones announced that he will be driving for Audi in the DTM Series, however, he was stuck in Dubai due to Covid-19 travel protocols.
