Josef Newgarden is a professional race car driver. He drives for the IndyCar Series for Team Penske. He has won the IndyCar Championship twice in 2017 and again in 2019. In 2011, he also won the Indy Lights championship.

As a young player, he played in the Kart Racers of America and the Junior Can Championships. In 2006, he won two championships. In the same year, he also started racing with Kip Barber and later for Formula Ford.
He also competed for Formula Palmer Audio, GP3 Series, and Indy Lights.
IndyCar Career
In 2012, he started racing for the IndyCar Series. His very first match was the 2012 Honda Grand Prix of St Petersburg. He did not clock his first win until 2015 at the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama (Barber).
He finished first in the championships for the first time in 2017 at the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series and again in 2019 at the 2019 NTT Indycar Series.
As of March 2023, he has had 25 career wins. He’s also made it to 47 podiums and has had 17 pole positions.
