The USP Institut Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona has seen a frequent visitor in Jorge Lorenzo. His recent visit after a disastrous Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix revealed fractures of the third, fourth and fifth metatarsal in the Fiat Yamaha rider’s left foot. There was no dislocation and the ankle, for which he had been here earlier this year, was unharmed in the crash.
Doctors at the institute have prescribed a minimum of ten days with limited movement. The target is to attain complete mobility before the next race in Brno. Lorenzo will have his left foot covered in a cast during his resting period, along with a weight relieving splint attached later to allow him to walk.
The 21 year-old has commented that he was “in pain and angry that another crash had halted progression,” but Lorenzo will be making the most of his layoff by getting himself back into shape and indulging himself into another interest, the Tour de France.
“Luckily I have time to recover before Brno, even if I won’t have any holiday. Right now I’m going to enjoy the Tour de France on television,” said Lorenzo.
