Ferrari’s Felipe Massa believes new Mercedes number one driver Lewis Hamilton is capable of contending for the 2013 Formula One title.
The 2008 F1 world champion has impressed in testing with his new team and Massa told reporters in Barcelona that Hamilton has what it takes to challenge for the crown this year, despite Mercedes finishing a lowly fifth in 2012.
“Lewis is a driver who has always shown he can fight for the championship,” Massa said.
“He is very, very quick, and he has always proven that when he has a competitive car, he is going to be fighting for the wins and for the championship.
“We have to look at everything he will have available to get those results, and he will certainly fight for the championship and victories, as we have seen him do in other cars before.”
