Honda: No Stoner Wildcard Move

Rumours have circulated in Italy that former MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner could make a wildcard return to the sport, but Repsol Honda team principal Livio Suppo says that’s unlikely.

Rumours have circulated in Italy that former MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner could make a wildcard return to the sport, but Repsol Honda team principal Livio Suppo says that’s unlikely.

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reported this week that the Australian was in talks with Honda for a wildcard return at his home track in 2013 along with Japan’s Motegi Grand Prix.

However, Suppo said he knew nothing about the speculation on Stoner who retired from MotoGP at the end of the 2012 season.

“It would be very nice, but at the moment not to my knowledge,” Suppo said.

“Obviously if Casey wanted to, there would be no problem.”
