Nico Rosberg ended the Monaco Grand Prix in the barriers, last weekend and the news on his health is that things are ‘A-Okay’. Rosberg is already fighting fit for the Canadian Grand Prix after his Williams’ car hit a patch of water and flew into the barriers on a rainy day in Monaco.
“My crash at the Swimming Pool chicane on lap 60 of the Monaco Grand Prix was a big one, but there’s no damage - not to me, anyway” said the German driver in his column on the Williams’ Website.
“After consulting the doctors on site I decided, as precaution, to go to the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco. All the routine checks in the hospital showed that everything was perfectly fine, so I was released to go home rather quickly. After a couple days rest, I am currently preparing and training as normal for the Canadian Grand Prix.”
Up until his accident, the Williams was extremely quick in the Principality and the 22 year-old was confident of a strong result. Despite the shuddering accident, Rosberg is optimistic about his chances at the Canadian event.
“What made the shunt so disappointing was the fact that the FW30 had been really competitive during practice and qualifying” he added. “I’m looking forward to getting back into the car in Montreal, because the speed in Monaco was very promising.”
With preparations already in full swing, Rosberg plans to fly out to Canada on Sunday to get used to the time difference. His performance in Monaco certainly spells ominous signs for the rest of the grid and he will one to look out for.
