Valentino Rossi may have just achieved his 90th career victory at the Alice Grand Prix de France last Sunday but if you saw him, you wouldn’t know it. With the win, Rossi is second on the all-time highest race wins’ list, level with Angel Nieto and behind Giacomo Agostini. You would imagine that that is a reason to celebrate, but not for Mr. Valentino Rossi.
The Fiat Yamaha rider stayed back for two more days of post-race testing, at the Le Mans circuit, and put in about 68 blinding laps on Monday alone. With colleague Jorge Lorenzo back in Spain with a fractured ankle, Rossi was the lone ranger putting in lap after lap to test different tyre compounds, with manufacturers Bridgestone.
“The tyres were tested for future development. We also worked on some settings as well as on some new electronic maps. Our aim is to make sure that the bike is in the best shape for the Italian challenge waiting round the corner.”
