Rossi finishes in second place at Monza Rally

 Valentino Rossi> Valentino Rossi, 2008 MotoGP World Champion, finished in second place at the annual Monza Rally event, held last weekend. Driving a Ford Focus, and assisted by Carlo Cassina, Rossi lost the first place to Rinaldo Capello and Luigi Pirollo.

Finishing second even at the ‘Master Show’ special stage, to Piero Longhi and Luca Cassoi, the final moments witnessed intense head-to-head action. Rossi was the most successful two-wheel competitor at the event, followed by Marco Simoncelli, 250cc World Champion, who finished in 27th place. Finishing behind Simoncelli were Roberto and Davide Brivio, who returned after a season in a Fiat Yamaha garage.

Jorge Lorenzo, Rossi’s regular teammate, debuted with his own team manager, Daniele Romagnoli, in a Fiat Punto, finishing in 38th place. Other MotoGP riders include Alex de Angelis who finished in 41st place.

Rossi will be using his experience at the rally for the Rally GB stage of the World Rally Championship slated for the 4th of December. Before that though, Rossi will be appearing for tests with Scuderia Ferrari and will return to his day-job at the end of November.
