Full Mount

In this position, both fighters are grappling on the floor. One of them is on his back, while the other is straddling the former's chest. The fighter on top is in the position of advantage, and the goal is to prevent the opponent from pushing him off.

How the Fighter Successfully Succeeds Full Mount?

The fighter that succeeds in fully mounting the opponent is in the position of advantage and dominance. He has to ensure that he maintains that position by using his weight against the opponent and immobilizing the latter's legs. For the player not to lose the advantage when in a full mount position, he must stay on top and traps the legs of the other opponent by hooking his feet around the other combatant's thighs. He should put all his weight on the opponent by pressing his chest and torso down on the opponent's body, significantly preventing him from moving.

How to Avoid Full Mount Position?

In this position, the opponent on the bottom position will struggle to push or bump off the fighter straddling his chest and body. He will try to hit back with his arms, so it is crucial that the fighter take advantage of his full mount top position by hitting the opponent on his head, face, and on the sides of his torso.

As the opponent moves to protect his head and face by framing or covering them with his forearms, the fighter on top should move to a higher full mount position. It means he will sit higher up on the opponent’s chest, putting his full weight on the opponent’s torso. He can then start to rain punches and blows on the opponent, or flatten down on him using a position called the squeeze.

The fighter on top keeps his full mount position also by keeping his knees locked tightly around the opponent’s body. It will also stop the opponent from bucking him off.

The aggressive fighter should also keep the opponent’s arms under control by gripping them with his forearms and arms. He can then hit him with his elbows and arms.

The fighter on top should also make sure not to give his opponent the chance to maneuver under his (the offensive fighter) armpits. Once the opponent succeeds at doing this, he can push off the fighter on top and kick his way free.
