Handwraps is also known as a wrist wrap, and is defined as a strip of cloth used by athletes of combat sports including MMA and boxing to protect the wrists and hands from injuries brought about by punching. This strip of cloth is wrapped securely along the base of the thumb, the palm and around the wrist, which primarily compress the soft tissues of the hand, thus providing strength as well as maintain the alignment of the joints.
