Brett “The Grim” Rogers is a mixed martial arts fighter born on February 17, 1981 in Chicago, Illinois. He fights in the Heavyweight division and has fought in EliteXC. He is presently working under Strikeforce. He is ranked by Sherdog as the fifth top heavyweight in the world and by MMA Weekly as the seventh top heavyweight as of December 2009.

The Chicago-born heavyweight grew up in the west and south sides of the bustling city. He also lived in the Cabrini Green housing project, which was well-known as a gang-infested and dangerous neighborhood. When he was 12 years old, he moved to Minnesota and attended Harding High School. It was during junior college when he started practicing Tae Kwon Do.

Rogers began his training in the MMA with Team Bison under the legendary trainer Mike Reilly. He currently trains with Ambition MMA, still with trainer Reilly and co-head trainer Sergio Cunha. Brett first made history as an MMA fighter when he fought Jon Murphy. It was this match that was first aired as the first MMA match on a live network. In February 2009, after fighting for EliteXC, Brett signed with Strikeforce and was considered as the number one contender for the Strikeforce heavyweight title.

The Grim’s fighting style is marked by his powerful strikes. He is very athletic and aggressive and likes to get the first hit on his opponents. He does not spend a lot of time fighting on the ground but he has proved that his takedown defense is very much solid.

Brett’s accomplishments include defeating - Andrei Arlovski by TKO after 22 seconds at Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields; Ron Humphrey by second round TKO at Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Dia; and James Thompson by first round KO at EliteXC: Street Certified. His latest win was by knockout in 2014 when he fought with Aslambek Musaev in Grozny, Russia.

The 6’ 5” athlete currently has an MMA record of 17 wins, 10 losses and 1 no contest. His wins include 15 by knockout and 2 by decision.
