He is the brother of Leon Shahbazyan who is also a professional MMA fighter. Both started training in MMA at a young age.

Career

He debuted as a professional MMA fighter in 2017. He started his career fighting for California Xtreme Fighting. His first fight was against Selah Williams. Shahbazyan won that fight in a TKO achieved with head kicks and punches.

Other CXF fighters he went up against include Aaron Hamilton, Antony Thomas, Antonio Jones, and more.

He debuted in the UFC in November 2018. His first UFC fight was against Darren Stewart. He was declared the winner in a split decision. He had three fights and three wins in 2019 against fighters Charles Byrd, Jack Marshman, and Brad Tavares.

His first UFC loss came in August 2020. It was against Derek Brunson. Less than a year later, he faced up and lost against Jack Hermansson. His latest fight in the UFC ended in a loss to Nassourdine Imavov.

In December 2022, he went up against Dalcha Lungiambula and won. Then in May 2023, he lost to Anthony Hernandez.
