Magomed Ankalaev

Magomed Ankalaev is a Russian professional mixed martial artist. He fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championships in their Light Heavyweight division. In addition to the UFC, he also fought for the World Fighting Championships.

In November 2021, he was listed by the UFC as their No.6 Light heavyweight fighter.

Ankalaev was born Magomed Alibulatovich Ankalaev on June 2, 1992, in Makhachkala, Dagestan in Russia. He stands 191 cm tall and he has the same reach length. His last listed weight is 93 kilograms and he fights in the light heavyweight division of the UFC.

He is associated with Gorets and the Akhmat Fight Team. He attended the Dagestan State University and trained in Greco-Roman Wrestling.

Career

He debuted as a professional MMA fighter in January 2014 against Vasily Babich. He has fought for the Tesla Fighting Championships and the World Fighting Championships. Some of his more notable opponents include Maxim Grishin and Wagner Prado.

He debuted in the UFC on March 17, 2018. It was a loss to Paul Craig at the UFC Fight Night 127. He followed that up with a win against Marcin Prahnio.

In February 2020, he won against Ion Cutelaba. He defeated Cutelaba with head kicks and punches. In October of the same year, he won in a rematch with Cutelaba, this time bringing Cutelaba down with a Knockout.

His latest UFC bout was with Volkan Oezdemir held on October 30, 2021. It was a win for Ankalaev in a Unanimous Decision.
