Aleksander Rakic is a professional mixed martial artist. He is from Austria and he currently lives in and fights out of Vienna. He is affiliated with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and is in May 2021, he was ranked by the UFC as their No.3 Light Heavyweight Fighter.
In addition to the UFC, Rakic has also fought in the Final Fight Championship.
Athlete Bio and Personal Life
Rakic was born on February 6, 1992. Nicknamed, Rocket, Rakic stands 6 feet 5 inches or 196 meters. His weight is listed at 205 pounds and he has a reach of 78 inches or 198 cm.
He played football as a child, but he had aggressive tendencies when playing and it lead to him being expelled from the team. He would later transition into boxing in kickboxing in his early teens. As an amateur, he clocked more than 40 fights before he turned to MMA.
European MMA Circuit
Rakic turned pro in 2011 and his first professional match was a Rock the Cage event. It was against Christian Radke. Rakic lost the match when Radke held him in a guillotine choke.
Following the loss, Rakic came back strong and won the next 8 fights. Some of the fighters he went up against include Sergio Souza, Martin Batur, Richard Longhimo, and more. He mostly focused on the European circuit, playing for WFC and FFC. He also played in the Austrian Fight Challenge.
UFC
Rakic was signed into the UFC in 2017. His debut fight was with Francimar Barroso in UFC Fight Night, held in the Netherlands. Rakic won that fight and he would go on to win the next three before losing to Volkan Oezdemir in December 2019.
He would recover from that loss and go on to best Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos. Other UFC fighters he has gone up against include Devin Clark, Justin Ledet, and Jimi Manuwa. His fight with Manuwa gave him a Performance of the Night bonus. The bout was held in Stockholm, Sweden.
As of 2021, Rakic has had 16 professional MMA matches. He has had 14 wins and just two losses, one to Oezdemir and the other to Radke, early in his professional career.
