Thomas Joseph “Tom” Lawlor, more popularly known as Filthy Tom Lawlor, is an American mixed martial artist and wrestler. He has been a professional since 2007 and competes in the light heavyweight division of the UFC. Tom has endeared himself to his fans by imitating other fighters during octagon entrances and even weigh-ins.
Tom Lawlor competed as a wrestler during his high school days and continued to compete in the sport even while attending the University of Central Florida. He trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu back in his hometown. According to Lawlor, the moment he felt hooked into fighting professionally for the MMA was when he got tapped out by the leg lock master, Don Banville during his training.
Lawlor’s amateur MMA career started in 2003. His amateur career debut fight was a victorious one after having defeated Rich Mitchell via KO in under a minute. He began fighting professionally in 2007. His UFC debut was against Kyle Kingsbury and he won via unanimous decision. He defeated CB Dollaway during his second fight for the promotion. During his career in the UFC, he has won awards such as Performance of the Night, Fight of the Night, Knockout of the Night, and Submission of the Night. His last fight was in March 2016, where he lost to Corey Anderson via unanimous decision. He has been suspended from the UFC provisionally in November 2016 following a failed out of competition drug test.
Tom “Filthy” Lawlor stands at 6’0” tall and weighs 205 lbs. He fights in the light heavyweight division of the UFC. Lawlor can be viewed in monthly appearances at The Bryan and Vinny Show which started in September 2016. Lawlor also co-hosts the FRB or Front Row Brian Show.
