Anthony Perosh
Anthony Perosh is a retired professional mixed martial artist from Australia. He was born and raised in Australia but is of Croatian descent, due to both parents being immigrants from Croatia. He formerly competed in the light heavyweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He has also fought in the Cage Fighting Championships promotion.
Perosh was born on October 5, 1972. His introduction to combat sports wasn’t until later on when he was working as security to pay his college tuition. He trained in martial arts to help him with security work. This began in 1995 under the tutelage of Paul Zadro. He learned not only Kempo Karate but Muay Thai as well, later on training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In 2003, Perosh received a black belt in Machado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. After he received his black belt, he trained for mixed martial arts competition.
In 2003, Perosh made his professional debut by defeating Api Hemara with a rear naked choke submission. He went on to amass a 5-1 record before being signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. His first fight was against ADCC Submission Wrestling World Champion Jeff Monson. His next fight in the UFC 66 against Chrisitan Wellisch was a great display of skill between the two players but ultimately led to Perosh’s defeat. Perosh was then released from the promotion. In 2009, Perosh found himself competing in the CFC where he won 2 out of the 3 matches in the promotion. He was then signed back to the UFC during their debut event in Australia as a late replacement. Although he lost, he was given a four fight contract. Before his retirement, Perosh had a mix of wins and losses in the promotion. He announced his retirement on January 2016.
Anthony Perosh now runs the Sinosic Perosh Martial Arts together with former UFC veteran, Elvis Sinosic. The gym is located in Sydney, Australia. Anthony Perosh stands at 6’3”, weighing in at 205 lbs., and fought in the light heavyweight division. His record stands at 15 wins and 10 losses.
