Tyson Griffin
Tyson Lee Griffin is a retired professional mixed martial artist from the United States of America. He formerly fought in the Lightweight division and was a professional fighter since 20014. He competed for the UFC, Strikeforce, and the World Series of Fighting before his retirement.
As a high school student in Albany High School, Tyson stood out as a wrestler. He moved to Skyline Junior College and continued the sport before dropping out. He did not stop with wrestling, rather he moved on to train with David Terrell’s NorCal Fighting Alliance as well as the Cesar Gracie Academy. It was during his first MMA training session, where Tyson needed stitches after a gash over his left eye that he decided to commit to MMA as a career.
Tyson’s professional career soared with consecutive wins in 2004. On his third fight, he had a TKO victory over Urijah Faber, the fighter’s first defeat for over three years in the MMA. Before signing on with UFC, Griffin won all 6 of his first fights. Even his debut in the UFC was a remarkable one. All three of Tyson’s bouts in the UFC in the year 2007 was ranked to be in the top 10 best of the year. He even garnered four Fight of the Night awards in the UFC.
After two consecutive losses in the World Series of Fighting, Tyson hung up his gloves and retired. He stands at 5’ 6” tall and weighs 145 lbs. His record stands at 15 wins, 6 losses, and 0 draws.
