Nick Thompson
Nick Thompson or known as The Goat is a retired mixed martial artist from America. Born on June 23, 1981, he holds a professional mixed martial arts record which stands at 38 wins, 14 losses, and 1 draw before hanging up the gloves. He fought professionally in both the UFC and the Bodog Fight Shows. He is also the former Bodog Fight Welterweight Champion.
Nick’s entry to combat sports started when he was wrestling during his college years at the University of Wisconsin. He trained with Dave Strasser of Dave Strasser’s Freestyle Academy. He also trained with other notable coaches including manager Pat O’Malley. When he moved to the University of Minnesota Law School, he trained under Greg Nelson at the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy. He is closely affiliated with Erik Paulson who is the founder of Combat Submission Wrestling.
Thompson made his professional debut at the UFC 56 against Keith Wisniewski, a fight he was victorious in. But his return to the UFC in 2006 was a devastating loss against Karo Parisyan. Before fighting with Bodog Fight, Thompson had three warm-up fights in smaller organizations. His stint with Bodog Fights was a successful one. He has defended his Bodog Fight Welterweight Champion title twice after winning it from Eddie Alvarez.
Nick holds a record of 38-14-1. He stands at 6’ 1”, weighs 170.8 lbs., and with a reach of 71”. He was nicknamed The Goat due to his characteristic beard. Before making his retirement, his last fight was on April 9, 2011.
