Mikihito Yamagami
Mikihito Yamagami is a professional mixed martial artist signed under the Shooto promotions. The Japanese fighter currently competes in the strawweight division and is the undisputed flyweight champion in Shooto. Aside from mixed martial arts, Yamagami is a professional kickboxer who had won several tournaments under RISE, a kickboxing organization in 2007.
Yamagami was born on June 22, 1987 in Fujimi in Saitama, Japan. He started as an amateur mixed martial artist under Shooto in 2007. He became a professional in the said organization in 2008. In the same year, he won over Junji Sarumaru with a guillotine choke during a rookie championship tournament. He eventually won the championship title of the said tournament in December. By 2011, he became the new champion in the Shooto World Flyweight when he defeated Junji Ikoma.
The Japanese fighter stands 5 feet and 8 inches. He uses kickboxing as his main style of fighting, plays the southpaw stance and trains with team STF. His mixed martial arts record includes a total of 14 fights with 10 wins and 4 losses. His wins include 3 by knockout, 2 by submission and 5 by decision.
It was in 2013 when Yamagami made his latest wins. He fought with Narongchai Dragontail in Tokyo where he won via TKO. He also had fought Mamoru Yamaguchi in June of that year and also won via majority decision. His fights in 2014 were all unsuccessful against Jae Nam Yoo and Nam Jin Jo. These 2 fights happened in Seoul, South Korea and he was defeated via a unanimous decision.
