Miesha Tate or Miesha Theresa Tate is an American mixed martial artist and former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion. The fierce female fighter also became a bantamweight champion in the women’s division of Strikeforce in 2011. Tate is known for her superb grappling ability, which landed her a silver medal during the FILA Grappling Championships.
This American athlete was born on August 18, 1986 in the charming city of Tacoma. She played with boys during her childhood years and was known as a tomboy. In high school, Tate attended Franklin Pierce High School and played in the wrestling team from her freshman to senior years. When she was a senior, she won the girls’ state championship.

She then attended Central Washington University for her college degree. It was in that university where she was introduced to mixed martial arts and became very fascinated with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. As of present, she has a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Tate became a professional mixed martial artist in 2007. In 2009, she became the champion in the bantamweight division of the Freestyle Cage Fighting. She also became the Female Fighter of the Year in 2011 during the World MMA Awards.
Her mixed martial arts record includes 25 fights with 18 wins and 7 losses. Tate was previously ranked second in her division in the women’s category by the UFC.
Outside of mixed martial arts, the talented athlete also comes with numerous endorsements. She has modeled for several websites as well as publications including Fitness Gurls and ESPN The Magazine. She is also featured in a video game and was cast in a feature film.
