John Dodson or John Thomas Dodson III is an American mixed martial artist born on September 26, 1984. He has been competing professionally in the sport since 2004 and is currently signed under the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is noted for several things including his win of the Ultimate Fighter: Team Bisping vs. Team Miller. As of August in 2015, Dodson has ranked number 1 in the flyweight division by the UFC and number 3 in the world by Sherdog.

Dodson or otherwise known as, “The Magician” was born in the colorful city of Albuquerque in New Mexico. He grew up in the same city before moving to Edgewood. During his high school days in Moriarty, the African-American-Filipino athlete competed in wrestling, football and track events. In fact, he became a 2-time state champion in wrestling. In college, he attended University of Mexico while working at a local restaurant. At present, he has a daughter with his girlfriend named Delilah Skye.

The Magician stands 5 feet and 3 inches and practices the Southpaw stance. His main styles of fighting include Gaidojutsu, wrestling, boxing and kickboxing. He trains with Jackson’s MMA and boasts of a black belt in Gaidojutsu.

In terms of his accomplishments in mixed martial arts, Dodson became the bantamweight tournament winner and the Knockout of the Season in the Ultimate Fighter 14. He also won a one-time Fight of the Night and a two-time Knockout of the Night.
